Fashion and lifestyle brand ‘Diesel’, best known for its denim, is making its first foray into cricket after signing a partnership with Indian cricket team, Mumbai Indians.

The limited-edition capsule collection of off-field merchandise entitled Diesel-MI, will include denim, polo shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, shorts and accessories such as bags and caps. The pieces take style cues from the sport, with designs featuring cricket’s iconic V-shaped necks and preppy aesthetic, whilst still embodying the DNA of Diesel.

Mumbai Indians is owned by the Reliance Group, and Diesel retails in India in partnership with Reliance Brands, which is part of the group.

“The collaboration is just starting because we discovered that these iconic people who play cricket, they are superstars,” Renzo Rosso, founder of Diesel said.

Diesel-MI has already launched in 11 Diesel stores in India and will be stocked in major cricketing nations such as the UK, Australia, South Africa as well as Diesel.com.

This collaboration follows on from Diesel becoming the official off-field sponsor of AC Milan as the fashion brand moves into the sports arena. The new-look styling for the football team will be presented on December 23 in Doha in Qatar.
