Six readymade garment projects envisaging an aggregate investment of over Rs 300 crore are expected to be commissioned in 2015-16, according to the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), a leading business information company.
With an investment outlay of Rs 100 crore, Mandhana Industries is in the process of setting up a new garment manufacturing plant at Pune. The company plans to install a capacity to produce 40 lakh pieces of garments per year at this unit. The company has already started trial production at the plant. Commercial operations at the plant are likely to commence in April, CMIE on its website said.
West Bengal Hosiery Park Infrastructure plans to invest Rs 85 crore on setting up a hosiery park at Howrah, West Bengal. The park will come up under the SITP and will be developed over an area of 100 acres. It is expected to house 170 small and medium garment manufacturing units. The park is likely to be ready by March 2016.
KPR Mill is in the process of establishing a new garment manufacturing unit at Tirupur, Tamil Nadu. The company plans to invest Rs 55 crore on installing an annual capacity to produce 1.2 crore pieces of garments at this unit. The project is likely to be completed in April 2015 and is expected to create a direct employment for 1,200 people.
At same time, Dollar Industries is expected to invest Rs 30 crore to set up a new, fully-integrated, garment manufacturing facility over an area of one acre at Ludhiana and will cater to thermal and outer-wear. This is to be completed by March 2016.
A Rs 27cr-lounge-wear manufacturing unit will be set up by Ashapura Intimates Fashion at Vapi in Gujarat. This unit will have a capacity to produce 70 lakh pieces of garments per year. It will create an employment opportunity for 2,000 people.
Meanwhile, the textiles ministry is investing Rs 18 crore in an apparel and garment centre in Gangtok, Sikkim. Spread over 1.5 acres of land, the centre is likely to be completed by June next.
