PoneyPoney, one of the fastest growing kidswear brands from Malaysia has launched its India operations with Delhi-based partner Ajanta International Group, according to a press release.

After experiencing tremendous success in 11 countries across Asia Pacific and the Middle East, Poney sees a great future in India too.

Ajanta has aggressive plans to develop and expand Poney brand in the country which will see the opening of multiple exclusive brand outlets and shop-in-shops across the metro and tier 1 cities in the country in the first 5 years. E-commerce would also play a role in the company’s marketing plans.

Rajat Kapoor, of Ajanta International said, “We believe that kidswear is going to become the hottest fashion segment in the country in the coming years. With the kind of price points and positioning that Poney enjoys, we can really make this a very scalable and popular business model in India”.

About the extensive internationalisation plans of Poney Group, Albert Tan, founder and group executive chairman, said, “We are very excited to enter the Indian market. We believe that India has great eye for fashion and the parents there always seek quality and comfort for their children. We aim to deliver great products and excellent services to parents, and we plan to introduce our “Poney” brand into babies’ and kids’ retail market in India. Overall, we wish to become the number one international kidswear brand in the country within the next 5 years.”
