PMKVY The Sothern India Mills Association (SIMA) along with Textile Sector Skill Council (TSC) has organised three workshops to create awareness about the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana Scheme (PMKVY) and facilitate individual textile manufacturing units to get affiliated with TSC as a training provider and avail the benefits.

The first workshop was held in Coimbatore on June 9. Madurai is the second on June 10 and Salem will host the third on June 11, SIMA in a press release said.

SIMA chairman, T Rajkumar, inaugurated the first workshop in Coimbatore, J V Rao, CEO of TSC made a presentation on the scheme and K Selvaraju, secretary general, SIMA briefed the participants about the services of SIMA for availing the benefit and also training the workers in all the sectors. The workshop was attended by about 100 textile units, the release said.

Rajkumar said SIMA would facilitate and extend necessary assistance to different associations and the textile units on a “no profit no loss basis” and the textile units need not pay any specific fee.

He said SIMA has been approved by TSC to conduct the Training of Trainers programme which would be offered at a nominal cost. SIMA has also been approved by TSC for validating the documents of individual textile units and recommending to TSC for affiliation as training providers which also would be provided at a very nominal cost.

The PMKVY scheme is designed to facilitate the unemployed youth to get trained, certified and placed in various manufacturing sectors and gives financial assistance ranging from Rs 6000 to Rs12000 depending upon the skill level.

TSC promoted by Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) has undertaken the exercise of implementing the PMKVY scheme and is in the process of implementing the pilot phase project.
