A delegation from Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) recently visited Odisha to explore investment opportunities to set up garment manufacturing units there. It visited Ramdaspur in Odisha where a new textile park is being set up and also discussed with the government officials on opportunities to make investment in the park.

The delegation headed by the TEA general secretary TR Vijayakumar also talked about the Odisha apparel policy with the government officials. As per the policy for the new textile park, the centre and state government will provide 60 per cent subsidy on building and common facilities under SITP scheme, 25 per cent subsidy for new machinery, Rs 1 crore interest free working capital loan, and reimbursement of Rs 1500 for new factories, giving employment for new labours. Further, the units in the textile park will provide minimum wages of Rs 220 per 8 hours.

The delegation also visited TITCO Industrial Corporation where 70 acres has been allocated to the textile park with the availability of water, power supply and road. Ten companies from Tirupur can join together and start a textile park in Odisha, Vijayakumar added.
