Indian Textiles: Strong Growth Amid Global Uncertainty

Indian textile exports continued to display resilience in July 2025, maintaining a steady growth path despite global trade uncertainties. According to quick estimates from the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics (DGCIS), exports of major Indian textile commodities reached USD 3.10 billion in July 2025, reflecting a 5.37% year-on-year increase compared to USD 2.94 billion in July 2024.

During April–July 2025, cumulative Indian textile exports stood at USD 12.18 billion, recording a 3.87% rise over the same period last year (USD 11.73 billion).

Segment-wise Performance**

Readymade Garments (RMG):** A strong driver of Indian textile exports, RMG shipments touched USD 1.34 billion in July 2025, up 4.75% year-on-year. For April–July 2025, cumulative exports grew 7.87% to USD 5.53 billion.

  • Cotton Textiles: Representing the traditional strength of the Indian textile industry, cotton exports rose to USD 1.02 billion in July 2025, a 5.17% increase from last year.
  • Man-made Fibre (MMF) Textiles: Reflecting diversification in the Indian textile sector, MMF exports reached USD 422.0 million in July 2025, posting a 4.05% rise.
