Normal operation at Arvind Ltd’s fabric brand Tresca has been affected following a roadblock by its 7000 workers to press their demand for wage revision.

“About 7,000 workers have boycotted work since the second shift on Thursday demanding wage revision, bonus and insurance,” a leader of Majoor Mahajan Sangh, Ahmedabad textile labour union association has claimed.

The agitation has paralysed the wovens and knits divisions at Arvind’s Santej plant that manufactures knits, wovens, denims and advanced materials.

Meanwhile, Arvind Ltd in a statement said, “The agitation by a section of workers in the wovens and knits division at our Santej facility is illegal with no specific demands.”

It claimed that Majoor Mahajan Sangh, Kalol, to which its workers are affiliated, has not authorised the agitation. “As per our agreement terms of employment are already been agreed upon till FY 2018,” the statement said.
