Lakmé Fashion Week SR2015Fashion designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee today opened the Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015 with a new men’s and women’s line titled Big Love from his ‘Sabyasachi by Sabyasachi’ label.

Harking back to the power dressing era of 1970s, the 105-piece collection was replete with the designer’s distinct signature touches and an exquisite combination of forms, colours, fabrics and textures.

The womenswear range included a dramatic black saree teamed with an antique gold embroidered blouse alongside an assortment of pre-stitched draped sarees, saree gowns and sarees with net extensions.

Based on brown, grey and beige colours, the line also featured shimmering hemmed toga gowns, jumpsuits with sheer net capes, bell bottoms, palazzos, long maxi shirt waisters, layered capes, column dresses, boleros, gilets and a floor sweeping cape with red lining.

Some military-inspired looks made using silk, tulle, crêpe, georgette, satin and taffeta also formed the part of women’s resortwear range. Enhanced with fully embroidered sequins, crystals and 3D embellishments, the featured pieces were minis, shifts, sack dresses, kurtas, gowns and tunics as well as strong suits with thigh length shirt-coats in bottle green or brown.

Menswear entry included black kurtas, bundis and scarves, and military bottle green and brown Jodhpuri jackets followed by brightly coloured floral printed suits, kurtas, bandgalas and brocade sherwanis.

The show, featuring 62 models, was staged at a highly decorated ramp of about 200 x 20 feet at the rustic grounds of Richardson and Cruddas Mills in Mumbai.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015 will continue till March 22.
