Textiles Minister Launches CCI’s Kapas Kisan App for Cotton MSP

The Union Minister of Textiles,  Giriraj Singh, today launched Kapas Kisan, a farmer-centric mobile application developed by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) under the Ministry of Textiles. Kapas Kisan has been created with the objective of facilitating seamless cotton procurement under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme. By offering farmers self-registration, digital slot booking, and payment tracking features, Kapas Kisan ensures that the procurement process is transparent, convenient, and faster than before. This digital innovation addresses long-standing challenges faced by cotton growers during MSP operations.

Speaking at the launch, the Union Minister highlighted that Kapas Kisan is a major milestone in empowering farmers and making the cotton selling process simpler. According to Giriraj Singh, the farmer-first design of  Kapas Kisan  ensures that every stage—from registration to payment tracking —is streamlined, fair, and efficient. He emphasized that Kapas Kisan not only provides operational ease but also aligns with the vision of Digital India, showcasing how technology can safeguard cotton growers from distress sales while ensuring timely and transparent MSP procurement.

The features built into Kapas Kisan are designed to provide maximum benefit to cotton farmers. Through Kapas Kisan, growers can securely register to sell cotton under MSP, book digital slots at designated procurement centers, and access real-time updates about quality checks, accepted quantities, and payment status. The user-friendly interface of Kapas Kisan supports multiple Indian languages, ensuring inclusivity and easy adoption by farmers across diverse regions. By bringing all these services into one platform, Kapas Kisan creates a farmer-friendly digital ecosystem.

One of the standout benefits of Kapas Kisan lies in its ability to reduce crowding and waiting times at procurement centers. With the help of digital scheduling, farmers using Kapas Kisan can choose convenient time slots that suit their schedules. This not only saves valuable time but also eliminates the stress of long queues. The Union Minister stated that Kapas Kisan will significantly reduce manual paperwork while improving efficiency at procurement sites, making the cotton procurement process more predictable and orderly for farmers.

Another major advantage of Kapas Kisan is the transparency it brings to farmer payments. Earlier, cotton growers often faced delays or confusion in receiving their MSP payments. With Kapas Kisan, they can now track their payment status in real time, ensuring accountability and eliminating the need for intermediaries. This unique feature of Kapas Kisan guarantees that farmers are not left in uncertainty and that their financial transactions are handled in a clear, timely, and reliable manner.

Beyond convenience and transparency, Kapas Kisan serves as a shield against distress sales. In many cases, farmers have been forced to sell cotton at unfairly low prices due to market fluctuations. By ensuring procurement at assured MSP rates, Kapas Kisan protects the livelihoods of millions of farmers. The Union Minister underlined that Kapas Kisan will help secure the income of cotton growers, reduce their vulnerability to exploitation, and provide them with greater financial security in unpredictable markets.

In conclusion, Kapas Kisan stands as a landmark step in combining agriculture with digital innovation. By digitizing procurement, supporting multilingual access, streamlining payments, and ensuring fair MSP operations, Kapas Kisan places cotton farmers at the very heart of the process. Giriraj Singh stressed that Kapas Kisan is more than just a mobile app—it is a tool of empowerment that protects farmers’ rights, strengthens transparency, and reflects the government’s commitment to farmer welfare. With Kapas Kisan, India’s cotton procurement system enters a new era of fairness, speed, and inclusivity.
