The fair introduced pure cotton sarees with brand names Jayakarthika, Sangeeth, Kolam etc made of special cotton yarn by weaver societies attached to Co-Optex to attract young women.

The expo was inaugurated by Co-Optex vice-president, Jayanthi Somasundaram and director M Murali. The six-day expo hopes to sell around Rs.8 lakh worth of fabrics. All the products at the expo are offered a discount of 20 per cent.

This is for the first time Co-Optex has launched the ‘summer sales drive’ through an exhibition in Vellore. Hundreds of varieties of specially made summer fabric to ward off heat were being exhibited, regional manager of the society, N. K. Nair said.

The Vallore unit of the state owned Tamilnadu Weavers Cooperative Society (Co-Optex) has put up a six-day exhibition of summer dress materials under the theme of ‘Cool Comforts’ on May Five.
