India’s largest vocational training provider for the apparel sector, Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC), was graced by the presence of Puneet Aggarwal, IAS, Joint Secretary and Keshav Kumar, director, Textile Ministry, GoI, at their Okhla Hub during this week.

The senior officials from the textile ministry visited the center to review the updated status of the Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) implementation undertaken by ATDC. They had a look at the sewing labs and the state-of-art machinery present at ATDC making sure all the norms related to the apparel industry trainee had been full-filled. Moreover they also interacted closely with the students enquiring about their plans for working in the industry etc.

Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) is a Flagship Project undertaken by ATDC which provides 11 different courses for students like Sewing Machine Operator, Embroidery Machine Operator, and Apparel Finisher & Checker etc.

Under the ISDS program, ATDC provides 300 intense training hours with view to address the human resource requirement of the domestic and export Apparel & downstream section of the Textile Industry and have trained about 2,00,000 candidates under ISDS so far with about 48,000 candidates to be completed by March-April 2017.

“The visit of Puneet Agarwal and Keshav Kumar to have a first-hand view of the ISDS training to our Okhla Hub is indeed a welcome step as we get to discuss together the implementation progress and issues especially in the context of the continuation of the main phase of ISDS beyond March 2017,” Dr. Darlie Koshy, DG & CEO of ATDC said.
