INIFD Names 4 Fashion Designers for GenNext 37th Edition Awards

The Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) has named Rohitash Notani, Charmee Ambavat, Kriti Greta Singhee, and Shimona Agrawal as its GenNext prize winners for the award’s 37th edition.

“The winning collections, each embodying the unique design philosophies of their creators, promise to bring a rich tapestry of styles,” a press release stated.

Rohitash Notani’s designs elegantly intertwine masculinity and femininity, while Charmee Ambavat draws inspiration from African tribes to create versatile, trend-resistant fashion pieces.

Shimona Agrawal champions sustainability, employing handwoven Banarasi silk in her collection, and Kriti Greta Singhee explores the interplay of geometric patterns on organic silks.

The designers will showcase their collections at the upcoming edition of Lakme Fashion Week x Fashion Design Council of India which will be held from March 13-17, 2024 in Mumbai.

The GenNext program’s selection process entailed an India-wide call for entries, followed by a rigorous evaluation by a jury of industry experts.

“Embracing the future of fashion begins with the creative minds we discover and foster through the GenNext program at Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI,” Lakme’s Vice President Sunanda Khaitan said.

“At Lakme, we are constantly in search of what’s the next big conversation in beauty and fashion,” Khaitan added.

“GenNext designers represent not only the resilience and creativity but also our commitment towards identifying, nurturing, and empowering young talent who will sculpt the future of global fashion,” she stated.

“It brings us immense joy to witness the continued success of our GenNext program, which has consistently nurtured remarkable young talent,” Jaspreet Chandok, Reliance Brands VP also said.

“For over a decade, the program has played a pivotal role in introducing exceptional designers, many of whom have left a lasting impression on the Indian and global fashion industry,” Chandok too added.
