The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) will be organising a buyer-seller meet in Uruguay – Montevideo  on March 18 and 19 and in Santiago, Chile on March 21 and 22 with 25 exhibitors at each venue.

Uruguay’s import of readymade garments from India increased from 9.5 million US dollar in 2013 to 13 million US dollar in 2014. Similarly Chile’s imports rose from 45.1 millionUS dollar in 2013 to 50.7 million US dollar in 2014. Looking at the growing volume of readymade garment exports from India to Uruguay and Chile, AEPC has organised the meets there.

The exhibitors can take along their latest collections specially designed for Uruguay/Chile market and negotiate orders with the buyers during the event, an AEPC circular said.

The council has tied-up with the Santiago Chamber of Commerce in Chile for inviting garment buyers in the meet and at Uruguay a PR agency is entrusted to bring buyers to the venue. The funding for the events has been approved by the ministries of textiles and commerce under its Market Access Initiative.
