The Man-Made and Technical Textiles Export Promotion Council (MATEXIL) has appointed Anil Rajbanshi as its new Vice-Chairman, bringing on board a seasoned leader with decades of experience in the textile sector. Rajbanshi currently serves as the President of Reliance Industries, a role he has held since 2004.
Before his tenure at Reliance, Rajbanshi was associated with the Birla Group, further strengthening his roots in the Indian textile landscape. His longstanding involvement in the man-made fibre segment, coupled with active participation in national industry bodies such as CII and FICCI’s National Committees on Textiles, highlights his commitment to advancing the sector. He has also been a member of the Textiles Committee, contributing to policy making and industry standards.
Speaking on his appointment, Rajbanshi emphasized the transformative potential of man-made fibre textiles, calling them the “future of the textile industry” and expressing optimism about their growing importance in domestic and international markets.
Shaleen Toshniwal, Chairman of MATEXIL, welcomed the appointment, noting that Rajbanshi’s vast industry knowledge and strategic insights will be instrumental in steering the Council’s efforts. “His leadership is expected to enhance the Council’s initiatives and contribute significantly to the growth of India’s man-made and technical textiles sector,” Toshniwal said.
Rajbanshi’s appointment is seen as a strong step toward aligning MATEXIL’s vision with the evolving demands of global textile markets, particularly in boosting exports and innovation in synthetic and technical fabrics.
