Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) is planning to set up office in Ahmedabad to boost apparel export from Gujarat. It will also bring in the required international exposure and opportunities for the textile and garment industry.

Being the highest cotton producing state, Gujarat has a burgeoning textile industry but the exports from the state, especially those for apparels are relatively low.

The AEPC’s office which will be operating out of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI) will begin operations in the city by the end of December this year.

“The textile industry experts are of the opinion that the boost in exports will not just open new markets but also help bring in new technology to the state,” Shailesh Patwari, president, GCCI said.
