Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC) Tamil Nadu centres have trained about 30, 000 candidates in the last five years. With nearly 44 per cent of its population employed and registered as ‘main workers’, the skill development thrust has also ensured women development and empowerment, a center’s release said.

The percentage would increase in the upcoming years as thousands of students are transforming into skilled workers who would contribute as and when they join the industry.Darlie Koshy, DG & CEO, ATDC in the state said, “Tamil Nadu is ATDC’s best performing state in all respects. It started its first training centre in 1996 in Guindy, in Tamil Nadu.

ATDC played a vital role on skill development to fill the gap of Industry requirement in both Knits and woven sector. The students trained in the ATDC centers get their employment locally in manufacturing units as well as outside the state, the release added.
