Workshop On Textile Parks A two-day national workshop on the textile parks sanctioned under the Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP) is being organised by Textiles ministry, in Surat from April 9.

The workshop, being organised in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Make in India’, features experience sharing by Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) of successful textile parks and representatives of various state governments on successful interventions by states.

The participants will also deliberate on the success factors for SITP, such as financing of parks, state government support, technological advancement and skill development initiatives.

The workshop seeks to make the SITP more effective by identifying and sharing best practices in implementation of such park, identifying areas of improvement and providing opportunity to the state governments to understand the benefit of the scheme in promoting textile ecosystem in their states.

The workshop is also expected to facilitate the participants to interact with local industry of Surat and visit successful textile parks.

Around 30 of the 70 textile parks approved by the government under SITP are already functional and the rest are at different stages of implementation. Once fully operational, all these parks are expected to generate employment for about 4,36,000 persons and attract investment to the tune of Rs 30,000 crore.
