Khadi Rozgar Utsav marked a major step towards realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Vocal for Local, and Local to Global, as the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) under the Ministry of MSME organised the grand event in Siwani, Bhiwani district of Haryana on Wednesday.
The event, held at the New Grain Market Complex on Tosham Road in Kheda village, witnessed the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini as the chief guest, while KVIC Chairman Manoj Goyal attended as the guest of honour. Several Members of Parliament, MLAs, public representatives and senior officials from both Central and State governments also participated.

During the event, KVIC distributed 3,645 modern machines and toolkits to 972 artisans from Haryana and other parts of the country under the Gramodyog Vikas Yojana (GVY). The distribution included 700 bee-boxes and bee colonies for beekeepers in Haryana, 220 electric pottery wheels, 100 sewing machines, 80 turn-wood toolkits, 59 footwear manufacturing toolkits, 128 traditional charkhas and eight leaf-plate making machines.
Additionally, 2,350 bee-boxes and bee colonies were distributed virtually to beneficiaries across seven states and Union Territories, including Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Tripura.
A major highlight of the programme was the online disbursement of ₹504.68 crore in margin money subsidies under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) for 22,259 projects across India. Banks have sanctioned loans worth nearly ₹1,485 crore for these projects, which are expected to generate employment opportunities for around 2.45 lakh people.
In Haryana alone, 253 projects received assistance, with subsidies of approximately ₹7.5 crore and bank loans worth ₹23.19 crore. These initiatives are projected to create 2,783 new jobs in the state.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that Khadi has long symbolised the labour, dignity and self-respect of millions of Indians. During India’s freedom movement, Khadi emerged as a powerful symbol of Swadeshi and significantly challenged British economic dominance.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has further strengthened this legacy through the mantra of “Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion and Khadi for Transformation.” According to him, the Khadi Rozgar Utsav in Siwani is a meaningful step towards turning this vision into reality.
The Chief Minister also interacted personally with beneficiaries and distributed various machines and equipment. He highlighted that nearly 58,796 artisans are currently employed through 96 active Khadi and Village Industries institutions in Haryana, while over 1.27 lakh people have secured employment under the Gramodyog Vikas Yojana.
He further stated that 5,533 machines and toolkits have already been distributed in the state, strengthening Haryana’s journey towards a self-reliant rural economy.
Under PMEGP, Haryana has established 18,683 new units over the last 12 years, supported by margin money subsidies worth approximately ₹638 crore, resulting in the creation of more than 1.5 lakh employment opportunities.

Saini also emphasised the growing role of women in the Khadi sector, noting that nearly 80% of the artisans are women. He said empowering women economically leads to the progress of families, communities and the nation as a whole. The state government is also promoting women’s self-help groups and creating market access for their products through both offline channels and e-commerce platforms.
KVIC Chairman Manoj Goyal said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Khadi and Village Industries sector has witnessed unprecedented growth. Today, Khadi has evolved beyond being a fabric and has become a symbol of self-employment, self-respect and indigenous entrepreneurship.
He revealed that the sector’s total production has reached nearly ₹1.25 lakh crore, while turnover has touched a record ₹1.87 lakh crore, generating employment for 2.04 crore people across the country.
Goyal further announced an ambitious target of ₹2.51 lakh crore turnover for the sector in the coming years.
He added that the Khadi Rozgar Utsav is not merely a distribution programme but a nationwide movement aimed at building a self-reliant India and prosperous villages. By empowering artisans and rural entrepreneurs with modern tools and financial support, KVIC is strengthening the foundation for sustainable livelihoods and inclusive economic growth.
The event concluded with the participation of a large number of artisans, beneficiaries and officials from several districts of Haryana, including Bhiwani, Hisar, Fatehabad, Yamunanagar, Jhajjar, Karnal, Rohtak, Sonipat, Nuh, Gurugram, Kurukshetra, Jind and Kaithal.
