Organic cotton is a highly sustainable fibre and India is the major producer of the item as well as the largest processing and export market of textile using organic fibre.
With this background, Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), will be organising its first-ever international conference at the Lalit in Mumbai on May 22 with a theme ‘Strong Partnership for Success’. The event will once again underline and highlight GOTS commitment to the organic textile market in general, and India, in particular.
The conference will be a great opportunity for all players in the textile value chain who are committed to sustainability and looking towards implementing the business case for sustainability with the help of GOTS, its managing director, Mr. Claudia Kersten said.
GOTS is recognized as the world’s leading processing standard for textile made from organic fibre worldwide. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire supply chain of organic textiles and requires compliance with social criteria as well.
