The Exclusive Handloom Expo – Saree Festival, organised by the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Textiles, is currently underway at Handloom Haat, Janpath, New Delhi, celebrating the richness and diversity of India’s handloom traditions. Open to the public from 20 December 2025 to 02 January 2026, the exhibition welcomes visitors daily between 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM, offering an immersive experience into the world of traditional Indian textiles.
This year’s edition brings together 90 participants from across various handloom clusters of the country, reflecting the vast regional diversity of India’s weaving heritage. Of these, 72 stalls are dedicated to handloom products, with a special focus on sarees crafted using age-old techniques and indigenous designs. Visitors can explore an impressive selection of handwoven sarees representing different states, along with salwar suits, dupattas, stoles, bedsheets, and dress materials, each showcasing distinctive craftsmanship, textures, and motifs. The remaining 18 stalls feature handicraft items, further enriching the exhibition with traditional art forms that complement India’s textile legacy.

The Saree Festival serves as a significant platform for weavers and artisans to directly connect with consumers, enabling them to showcase their creations, access wider markets, and secure better livelihood opportunities. Beyond commerce, the expo plays a vital role in preserving traditional weaving skills, promoting sustainable and eco-friendly textile practices, and encouraging appreciation for handcrafted products in an era of mass production.
Through initiatives such as this, NHDC continues its commitment to strengthening the handloom sector, empowering artisan communities, and promoting India’s cultural heritage on a national stage. The Exclusive Handloom Expo not only celebrates the elegance and timeless appeal of handwoven textiles but also reinforces the importance of supporting the millions of artisans whose skills keep India’s textile traditions alive for future generations.
