Dr. M. S. Parmar, a renowned textile scientist and former Director of NITRA, has officially assumed charge as the Director General of NITRA, Ghaziabad effective 8th May 2025. He also oversees the academic operations of the institute’s educational arm, NITRA Technical Campus (NTC).
With over 32 years of service at NITRA, Dr. Parmar brings a wealth of expertise in Textile Chemistry, Protective Textiles, Unconventional Fibres, and Textile Quality Control. He has successfully completed 28 government and industry-sponsored R&D projects and holds 15 patents, of which five have been granted.
A passionate academician, Dr. Parmar has guided 48 students across Ph.D., M.Sc., M. Tech., and B. Tech levels. He has also presented 140 papers at reputed conferences, published 137 articles, and contributed to 17 books as an author or co-author. His work has earned him numerous awards for research and publications.
His groundbreaking research on thermal layers for extreme cold climate clothing received widespread appreciation. Notably, he was personally recognized by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Textile Minister Giriraj Singh, underlining his impactful contributions to innovation in the Indian textile industry.
In 2022–23, Dr. Parmar was conferred the prestigious “Hon. F.T.A.” award by the Textile Association of India, acknowledging his lifelong dedication and significant contributions to the advancement of textile science and education.
