The prelude session on technical textiles was a remarkable event that showcased the collaboration and vision of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and TEA.

They organized the session at the prestigious Padmashri Dr. A. Sakthivel Auditorium, where they invited Dr. M. Vallalar IAS, the Commissioner of the Department of Textiles, Government of Tamil Nadu, as the chief guest. He was the key speaker of the event, which was a preview of the 2nd Edition of Conference on Technical Textiles that would happen in Coimbatore on 17th and 18th November 2023.

The session started with a cordial welcome address by Thiru. Elango, the Vice Chairman of CII Tirupur, followed by a special address by Thiru. Rajkumar Ramasamy, the Vice President of TEA. They thanked the Commissioner and the participants for their attendance and interest. Thiru. Kumar Duraiswamy, the Joint Secretary, gave the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the session.

The main attraction of the session was the presentation by Dr. Vel Krishna, the Co-convenor of CII Tamil Nadu Textile Panel, who demonstrated the concept and process of technical textiles in a simple and effective way. The Commissioner was fascinated by the presentation and emphasized the importance of technical textiles in the textile sector. He also informed the various facilities and incentives that the Textile Department of Tamil Nadu Government offers to the textile workers and exporters, such as skill development training and participation in the Global Sourcing Expo at Melbourne in Australia. The session ended with a stimulating question and answer session, where the Commissioner addressed the queries.
