CIICII-Young Indians Lucknow Chapter organized an interactive session with all the famous personalities of Indian fashion industry on Oudh Fashion Summit named as ‘PEHNAWA’ in Lucknow recently.

Senior fashion experts like Rina Dhaka, Muzaffar Ali, Asma Hussain, Manju Hundekar, Naina Ahmad, Aditi Jaggi Rastogi shared their views on how to promote the OUDH fashion culture at the global level and fetch better livelihood opportunities for all the artisans working in this field.

Uttar Pradesh has a long cherished history of rich and diverse cultural heritage. Experts emphasized upon the importance to bring a paradigm change in positioning the state as a fashion hub to attract investments and partnerships for converting existing creativity into economic benefits to states and further taking it to the global market.

Manju Hundekar, principal NIFT, Mumbai, focused on establishing more craft institutes and producing such products which are backed by the global forecast. She also laid emphasis on the well-being of artisans. Renowned fashion designer, Rina Dhaka suggested to open design and craft centres at regional levels and skilled artists to be promoted further through the platform backed by CII.

Dimple Yadav, Member of Parliament and chief guest said that the state government has already signed up a training programme in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Services (TISS) to train the craftsmen on specialized courses related to chikankari and other crafts.

Sachin Agarwal, chairman, CII UP State Council and MD PTC Industries, was of the view that the reference of Uttar Pradesh as the ‘cradle of Indian Culture’ is quite appropriate as within its boundary lie a multicultural, multi ethnic and multi religious population that has absorbed many of the nuances of foreign and immigrant cultures.
