Telangana to uplift the Textile Industry by including MSMEs

Telangana to uplift the Textile Industry by including MSMEs

Telangana government has aimed to boost the textile industry in the state including the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The government has inked a MoU with the Tamil Nadu-based apparel manufacturer Kay Ventures to setup the Apparel Super Hub at Peddur Village in Sircilla District. On the signing ceremony, KT Rama Rao, minister of information technology was also present on March 13, 2018.

The Apparel Super Hub which will house 5,000 state-of-the-art sewing units. Embroidery, printing, washing and value addition/support facilities will also be housed here.

The centre is planning to invest Rs. 100 crores to setup the hub which will be developed in three phases and cover an area of 20 acres which will be fully operational within the next three years. A total of Rs. 30 crores will be invested to make the first phase of the project operational in the next 9-12 months. The State Government will fund 90 per cent of the investment while Kay Ventures and their associates will fund 10 per cent only.

The second and third phase will be funded with the support of Centre, State and Kay Ventures where capacities of 1,000 machines and 1,500 machines, respectively, will be created with the necessary infrastructural facilities.

The upcoming hub will have a focus on the entire apparel chain and will offer employment to 15,000 people, out of which 90 percent is reserved for women. Kay Ventures will work with IL&FS Clusters for the establishment of the hub and rope the national and international brands to tap the capacities at the hub.

Last month, the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) proposed to set up a small- and medium-scale textile park in the state.
