ArvindArvind Ltd is planning to create some apparel, fashion and footwear brands that will be mostly sold through online channels to tap the growing potential of ecommerce in India.

“I cannot divulge but the model will be different from current ventures and closely integrated with online,” executive director Mr. Kulin Lalbhai said. “This will be an extension of our brand strategy and extend our portfolio strongly,” he said.

Arvind has roped in former Puma India head Mr. Rajiv Mehta to spearhead the venture and he will create new brands to mostly sell through online channels, Mr. Lalbhai said. The group will also look at tapping the footwear and sportswear segments through the venture.

Arvind has set up a separate vertical that will create “online-oriented” distribution of apparels as well as forge new partnerships with global brands.
