Artisan from fourteen handloom weaving states of the country are showcasing their silk products at the ‘Silk & Cotton Fab of India’, an exhibition cum sale began at Community Hall, Ravishankar Nagar, Madhya Pradesh.

A silk sari from Kashmir which weighs 90 grams is one of the major attractions of the exhibition, Shahid, a vendor from Kashmir said. There were also light weight saris prepared by very fine cotton in the fest.

Besides, some pashmina shawls which is prepared after reading 400-year-old design books in Persian language were also on display. People of the valley weave pashmina shawls after reading Persian code, written by Iran.

Some other traditional silk saris including, kanjivaram, tusser, katha and other in stuffs georgette, chiffon stuffs of West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh were also exhibited.

Some suits and dupatta in same stuffs are also available in block prints for women. The nine-day event was organised by Gramin Hastkala Vikas Samiti.
