Maharashtra Govt to set up 9 Textile Parks

In the Northern cotton growing part of the state, the government of Maharashtra has announced to set up nine textile parks by adding value at every stage which will benefit farmers. Subhash Rajaram Desai, Industries Minister Maharashtra has made this announcement at the Progressive Maharashtra Summit organised by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

“The textile parks provides a platform to many small and medium industries to flourish their businesses. However, in such way, we can support farming and industry,” Desai said. He also highlighted the benefits of Amravati Textile Park that features 30 operational units and stressed on replicating the same at the upcoming nine parks.

The theme of the 5th edition of the summit was ‘Maharashtra 2025: Leapfrogging to the $1 Trillion Economy’.

Over the years, the Maharashtra government has taken several initiatives that benefited the farmers and this time also the idea is to enhance the farmers’ income through ‘value-added’ products. Furthermore, it will also help the Government and the farmers in proper utilisation of the cotton produced in the northern part of the state.
