Two Major Garment Fairs begin in Kolkata

Two major garment fairs ‘Buyers and Sellers Meet’ began in Kolkata today in the backdrop of the recently implemented goods and services tax (GST), country’s most comprehensive indirect tax reform. The events this year were significant because of the new tax regime.

While one such meet was organized by West Bengal Garment Manufacturers & Dealers Association at Hotel Peerless Inn, the other was hosted by Eastern India Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Federation at Hotel Hindustan International, both in the central parts of the Metropolis.

Although talks of the participating exhibitors were mainly on the possible impact of the GST on their business, Several National major brand and the local manufacturers participated in the three-day events like previous years. Buyers from different parts of the country particularly from the adjoining states and north-eastern region attended both the venue to make their purchases before the forthcoming festive season. The souvenir was also launched in the 44th Buyers and Sellers Meet.
