Sustainability Issues Discussed At TE Conference

Textile Exchange (TE) Sustainability Conference 2015, organised by Textile Exchange at Mumbai, on October five discussed crucial issues pertaining to sustainability in the global textile value chain like environmental, social and economical issues in order to bring a change in the global textile industry, according to TE sources.

The four-day global event, which saw a participation from 32 countries, gave an overall picture of sustainability in the textile industry currently and the likely scenario in future; solutions and ideas with respect to problems in the two big textile markets of the world – India and China. How companies can formulate and implement strategies for sustainability; environment, climate and agriculture in the textile value chain and a brief on this being high-time to start acting towards sustainability. Information on organic cotton was also disseminated and debated during the conference which concluded with a cultural event named ‘Flavours of India’.

The conference had 71 speakers and was attended by around 230 companies. TE believes that providing access to information is necessary to create change and do business better,” the release said.

The next edition of Textile Sustainability Conference will be held in Hamburg, Germany from October 3-6, 2016.
