Solar-powered Jackets Launched by Tommy Hilfiger

Solar Powered JacketThe American apparel retail company Tommy Hilfiger has joined hands with the New York-based solar structure designer and manufacture Pvilion to create a Solar Powered Jacket for the 2014 holiday season.

The two limited-edition woolen jackets, available in blue for women and in military green for men, have been crafted with a mix of both conventional fabrics and tartan.

The line is available for sale in select Tommy Hilfiger stores across Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia, as well as online at tommy.com

The back of the jacket features a space to attach around 7 to 10 removable solar panels which harness sunlight and utilize the power for charging an array of smart devices such as mobile phones and tablets.

Made using flexible amorphous silicon technology, the detachable solar panels are linked via a hidden cable in the garment’s lining that is connected to two USB charging ports installed in the jacket’s front pockets

Tommy Hilfiger specializes in men’s, women’s and children’s apparels, sportswear and denim.

Pvilion designs and manufactures flexible PV solar structures and products including solar powered charging stations and solar powered curtains and clothing.
