Malhotra, Closing Designer for India Couture Week 2017

Fashion Designer Manish Malhotra will be the closing designer for the ‘India Couture Week 2017’ with a show at the Taj Palace hotel, in New Delhi on July 30, according to the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).

“The end of this year will see our Delhi Flagship store space growing to almost 15,000 sq.ft to become the largest standalone Indian designer store. The showcase at India Couture Week will be a stellar experience that is befitting these milestones and will present Manish Malhotra Label’s new design direction through the lens of Couture,” Malhotra said.

“This year, my collection spotlights Indian craftsmanship combined with modern silhouettes for a stylish, young bridal entourage. Each piece is meticulously crafted in intricate embroidery that is handcrafted to keep the essence of Indian craft alive. For women, the pieces are ultra-feminine, elegant and glamorous. For men, our collection will be a fusion of urban meets tradition that will see classic silhouettes reinvented using embroidery and print in fresh hues,” he said

“There has been a rise in demand of Indian couture in western market because of the increase in usage of Social media across the globe. Digital connects us with our International clients/consumers with just a push of a button. It just makes it more convenient for us to engage with them and keep them updated with our upcoming collection and trends. Social media is helping in making couture more accessible to the international market,” the designer added.

He predicted that the upcoming year will be more artistic, modern and bespoke.

“The appetite for luxury has always been quite voracious amongst Indians. However, what we lacked was access. And this has significantly changed via e-commerce and with the increased presence of several Indian and International brands. I hope to see a lot more international investors looking at Indian designers to invest and taking them to the next level in the future,” he concluded.

The upcoming India Couture Week will be held between July 24 and July 30 in the capital and will feature latest collections from the top 14 designers of the country.
