Mr. Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Minister of State for Textiles (IC), Govt. of Indian was inaugurating the 59th National Garment Fair by lighting the traditional lamp. Smt. Zohra Chatterji, Textile Secretary was also present on this occasion as Guest of Honour. CMAI President Mr. Rahul Mehta, Mr. Rajesh Masand, VP,  Mr. Ashok Shah - Chairman Fair Sub-Committee, Mr. Rohit Munjal - Joint Chairman( Fair Sub-Committee), Mr. Premal Udani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, CMAI and other few board members was present on this occasion.  Mr. Gangwar and Smt. Chatterji together with board members visited the various stall to see the glamour of fashion in this event.

Mr. Pradip Kochar, Managing Editor of the Apparel Talk and Freeman’s Apparel manufacturers Directory was also handover a copy of both the publication to Mr. Gangwar and explain about his publications.

Later on at media interaction, Mr Gangwar told that new government is giving full attention to the progress of the apparel industry. He said that neighbouring countries namely, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and other are moving at a fast pace and India need to move together with them for the overall development of the apparel & textile sector. He talked the initiative taken by the government to set up 25-30 textile & apparel park across the country. He also told that government wish to include textile sector job opportunities in the NREGA scheme.

59th National Garment Fair includes 697 stalls showcasing around 737 leading brands and expecting around 25000-30000 visitors. Mr Rahul Mehta told that he is expecting business around Rs. 500 crore at this fair.

Mr Ashok shah, Chairman Fair Sub Committee told that this is the first time such large fair was organised. He together with his team and help of board’s member are taking care for all the arrangement for participants, fashion shows and other activities at the fairs.
