Telangana has been taking steps to boost the textile industry in the state including the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). On reviewing the developments in the textile sector in the state, Telangana Industries and Textiles Minister, KT Rama Rao urges the government to improve the basic infrastructure needs for the effective operation of the firms located in the Gundlapochampally Apparel Park.

Rao stated that by providing basic need of the infrastructure, not only it will attract more investments in the apparel parks in Telangana but also increase the employment opportunities in the state.

At the review meet held last week, the officials also discussed about setting up of a corpus fund for maintenance and related aspects were also discussed. Rao asked his officials to take actions against firms which is indulging themselves in any activities other than garment manufacturing and the ones not following the norms.

Rao stressed that for handicrafts artisans, training and skill development centre should be established more at the apparel park.

He asked Telangana State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society (TSHWCS) to plan for increasing the number of centres operated by the society at different places in view of increasing demand for handlooms.

In February, The Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) proposed to set up a small- and medium-scale textile park in the state. The move is aimed to boost reverse migration of weavers from textile manufacturing hubs such as Surat, Bhiwandi and Solapur to their home state.

Moreover, the State Government inked a MoU with the Tamil Nadu-based apparel manufacturer Kay Ventures, to set up an ‘Apparel Super Hub’ at the upcoming apparel park at Peddur Village in Sircilla District.
