India has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imports of Nylon-6 originating from or exported by China and Russia, following complaints from the domestic industry alleging material injury caused by unfairly priced imports.
The probe has been launched by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), the investigative arm of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, after prima facie evidence suggested that Nylon-6 from the two countries is being dumped into the Indian market at prices below normal value.
Nylon-6, a key raw material used in the manufacture of textiles, industrial yarns, engineering plastics and automotive components, plays a significant role in India’s downstream manufacturing ecosystem. Domestic producers have claimed that the surge in low-priced imports has adversely impacted their profitability, production levels and market share.
According to the DGTR notification, the investigation will determine the existence, degree and effect of alleged dumping during the specified period and assess whether such imports have caused or threaten to cause injury to the Indian industry. If the findings confirm dumping and injury, the authority may recommend the imposition of anti-dumping duties to restore fair trade conditions.
Interested parties, including exporters, importers and other stakeholders, have been invited to submit relevant information and comments within the prescribed timelines.
The move reflects India’s continued efforts to safeguard domestic manufacturing against unfair trade practices while ensuring a level playing field in line with World Trade Organization (WTO) norms.
