NHDC Develops 'E Dhaga' Mobile App for Handloom Weavers

The mobile application ‘E Dhaga’ developed by the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC) to let weavers know about the availability of raw material or delays in supply has been launched by the textiles minister Smriti Irani. Currently available in Hindi, English and Telugu, the app will soon be released in Bengali, Oriya, Urdu and Assamese.

“The application will address weavers’ issues pertaining to raw material availability, supply delays as well as stock availability,” Irani said.

“The app has been developed to help weavers get access to information related to availability and supply of raw material. This application will ensure transparency in the system,” Ajay Tamta, minister of state for textiles said.

“Emphasising on the need to encourage weavers to use the application and it will be a useful tool for transacting with NHDC,” Rashmi Verma, textiles secretary said.

Weavers can also know the status of shipments of the dispatched raw materials with the help of the application.

NHDC has also begun accepting payments through digital modes and it will place its last three months yarn procurement of societies in the public domain.
