Newly elected team in FIEO

Apparel exporters took the lead as four elected members were from apparel export industry, in the election of Federation of Indian Export Organisation’s (FIEO) managing committee.

For the post of regional chairman, (Northern Region) Priyanka Mittal, KRBL Limited, Noida defeated Ashwani Kumar of Victor Forgings, Jalandhar. In All India Basis context (recognized one- and two-star export house category), there were total four seats and all four went to the apparel exporters as Gyan Prakash Mittal, Partner, Kanhaiyalal Kalyanmal, Jaipur; Rajesh Gupta, director, Metropoli Fashions; J B Jain, Proprietor, Rupam, Mumbai; and Bimal Mawandia, Director, Vineetaz Exports, Delhi won in a tough contest. A. Sakthivel of Poppy Knitwear, Tirupur was unanimously elected as regional chairman of Southern Region.

Bimal Mawandia, former chairman of Indian Silk Export Promotion Council, said, “Very soon all of us will have a meeting on how we can more aggressively work in FIEO for export promotion, and will clear our goals as well. All the members have good understanding of trade and have specialization in various segments within the industry. It will be a good support.”

Industry insiders are of the opinion that victory of these exporters will give a push to the group of apparel exporters who are struggling for change in AEPC and gave good fight in last election. Mawandia said, “Be it any group; all of us have a common goal and that is growth of exports from India.”
