The new State Apparel Policy has been announced by the State Government of Odisha. The government has announced the operational guidelines to implement in the State. According to the guidelines, it is necessary to obtain an identification number from the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department of the Government to set up a textile manufacturing unit in Odisha. Industrial bodies and young entrepreneurs will have to adhere to the guidelines issued, interested in setting up their units.

Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion will be liable for issuing the identification number for the larger industrial units. Affirmation has also been made mandatory from the Odisha State Co-operative Spinning Mill Federation Limited (Spinfed).

The Policy aims to boost the textile and apparel sector in an organised manner by attracting investors from various clusters. Under the policy, Bhadrak and Cuttack are expected to get apparel parks while integrated textile parks are expected to come up in Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Bargarh, Cuttack, and Ganjam.

Kalahandi-Balangir-Koraput (KBK) districts will also get integrated textile parks. Centre of Excellence in Bhubaneswar for skill development of new and existing workers has also been proposed.
