There has been an increase of around 400 percent in sales, 315 percent in production, and 81 percent in new employment generation in fiscal 2023-24 compared to fiscal 2013-14.

For the first time in the history of independent India, sales of KVIC products have crossed Rs. 1.55 lakh crore in the previous fiscal, up from Rs 1.34 lakh crore in fiscal 2022-23.

This was informed by KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar while releasing the provisional figures for fiscal 2023-24.

“This remarkable performance of KVIC has made a significant contribution towards realising the vision of a developed India by 2047 and making India the third-largest economy in the world,” Kumar added.

In the last ten fiscals, sales of khadi and village industry products made by artisans in rural areas has surged from Rs. 31,154.20 crore in fiscal 2013-14 to Rs. 1.55 lakh crore in fiscal 2023-24.

He also added that in the earlier fiscal, KVIC’s efforts have created 10.17 lakh new jobs in rural areas, strengthening rural India’s economy.

According to Kumar, khadi has become a new status symbol of fashion for the youth and the demand for khadi is increasing rapidly, which is reflected in production, sales, and employment figures.

He further said that in the last ten years, major changes and decisions have been taken to increase the production of Khadi and village industries, which are yielding positive results.

While the production of Khadi fabrics was Rs. 811.08 crores in fiscal 2013-14, it capitulated to Rs. 3,206 crores fiscal 2023-24, a jump of 295.28 per cent.
