Irani inaugurates Jharkhand’s first ever garment unit

Irani inaugurates Jharkhand's first ever garment unit

Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani today inaugurated ‘proper’ export-oriented apparel manufacturing factory at Irba, near Jharkhand capital Ranchi. Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das, among there’s, were present.

Selling up by Country’s leading garment supporters Orient Craft, the minister first of its kind in the state is a part of a pilot project named ‘Momentum Jharkhand’.

The apparel exporter is providing training 900 local youths of Jharkhand who would make a significant contribution to this venture.

 “This project is just a beginning. We have a big vision to create employment for almost 15,000 people in the state in one year,” the chief minister said.

Jharkhand, the emerging garment manufacturing hub of India, considers the garment industry as a highly prospective employment generating domain. The upcoming industrial park at Hotwar, which is supposed to be completed by 2020 and aims at creating 25,000 new jobs.

The Hotwar Park is spread over 25 acres and will have a capacity of hosting 25-30 apparel factories covering nearly 14 lakh square feet of factory area.

Initiatives taken by the state and leading exporters like Orient Craft will further support Jharkhand in making it big in the garment industry, official sources hoped.
