Indian Handicraft Exports to grow at 10% in FY ’17

Indian Handicraft Exports to grow at 10% in FY '17

Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) has reported that handicraft exports from India will grow at the rate of 10 per cent to Rs.23,560 crore in FY 2017 owing to the rise in demand in the new traditional markets across the globe, especially in Latin America Europe and Middle East. The export growth during the April to September 2016 period was reported as 18.25 per cent year-on-year to Rs.13,005.35 crore.

“A leading Indian daily that the promotional efforts were being undertaken towards improving the handicraft exports in the new traditional markets which will certainly impact the exports not only in these markets but also in the emerging ones,” Rakesh Kumar, executive director of EPCH said.

“The EPCH is participating in 30 to 35 exhibitions and fairs abroad every year to promote the handicraft items in the international markets and has also sought improved duty benefits for the sector,” he added.
