Handloom Weavers Gain From Raw Material, Design And Market Support

Handloom Weavers Gain From Raw Material, Design And Market Support

For the purpose of providing various concessions, benefits and support to handloom organisations/weavers including handloom weavers’ cooperative societies, Ministry of Textiles is implementing following schemes across the country:

  1. National Handloom Development Programme
  2. Raw Material Supply Scheme

Under the above schemes, financial assistance/concessions are provided for raw materials, upgraded looms & accessories, solar lighting units, construction of workshed, product & design development, technical and common infrastructure, marketing support for handloom products in domestic/overseas markets, concessional loans under weavers’ MUDRA scheme and social security etc.

Ministry of Textiles, Office of Development Commissioner for Handlooms has sanctioned 356 Small and 2 Mega Handloom clusters, organised 880 Marketing events, sanctioned 42,895 MUDRA Loans, enrolled 5,34,162 weavers under PMJJBY/PMSBY and formed 163 Producer Companies to benefit Handloom weavers across the country during last 5 years.

The details regarding State-wise number of handloom weavers including handloom weavers in backward areas benefitted under schemes of Handloom sector during the last five years are given at Annexure-I.
