Gupta Takes Over As New FIEO President

Ganesh Kumar Gupta, chairman, Akaash Textiles Pvt Ltd, has taken over as the new president of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) from this month for a period of two years. M Rafeeque Ahmed of Farida Group has been nominated as new vice president at the federation 240th managing committee meeting.

Gupta has worked for the overall growth, development and exports of the textile industry for over four decades in different capacities in various organisations.

Associated with the leather industry for more than four decades, Ahmed has played a crucial role in the overall growth and development of the industry.

Gupta expects the merchandise exports to be around 315 billion US Dollar and services exports to about 185 billion US Dollar in Financial Year 2017-18. He is of the view that as the country had already touched the 300 billion US Dollar merchandise exports in the past, “we should look at more aggressively increasing our exports with previous six months specially the February exports showing an impressive double digit growth of around 17.5 per cent.”
