Dutch denim brand G-Star Raw, which entered the Indian market last year in partnership with Genesis Luxury, will open five new stores by the end of this year, a top official of the company said. The brand currently has one store at Palladium Mall in Mumbai.

“G-Star Raw will open five new stores in Delhi & NCR, Pune, Chennai, and Bengaluru by end of this year,” Nikhil Mehra, COO. of Genesis Luxury said.

According to Mehra, the denim industry has been one of the most promising categories in India’s apparel market and is projected to grow at 15 per cent annually by 2018.

Meanwhile, G-Star Raw has announced American singer, rapper, and record producer Pharrell Williams as the co-owner of the jeans brand. In his new role, Williams will be involved in the company at many creative levels including collections, advertising and business strategy, the company said.
