First-ever expo of Indian Textiles in Dubai

The Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) of India, an apex body of manufacturers and exporters of Man-Made Fibre (MMF) textiles, is organizing the first ever exhibition of “Incredible Indian Textiles” in Dubai on February 19  in association with the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Indian Consulate General in Dubai.

Altogether 19 companies from India will participate in the two-day exhibition with an aim to forge strategic alliance with importers in the UAE. Nineteen Indian manufacturing or exporting companies – representing product categories from yarn to fabrics, and made-ups will take part at the event, Indian consulate there said. India is world’s second largest producer of synthetic fiber and yarn, cotton, cellulosic fiber and silk.

A wide array of products such as suitings, shirtings, furnishing materials, home textiles, made-ups and apparels will be displayed there.

The objective of the exhibition is to demonstrate the incredible Indian textiles and of which the MMF textiles have a range containing blended fabrics, made-ups, yarns, including apparels to importers in UAE to facilitate sourcing of their specific requirements of textiles from India.

Besides forging global partnership between UAE buyers and Indian companies, India aims to strengthen the trade ties between the two countries, particularly in the fastest growing man made textile segments. India exported synthetic and rayon (MMF) textiles worth USD 5790 million to over 150 countries during 2015-16. The Middle-East countries have emerged as a leading destination for India’s MMF textiles exports with a share of 29 percent (USD 1709.65 million), followed by the Asia 25 percent (USD 1474.02 million) and the quality conscious European Union 20 percent (USD 1170.66 million).

Leading markets for India’s MMF textile exports during 2015-2016 were UAE with 12 per cent share in total exports followed by the US (9 per cent) and Turkey (8 per cent).

The UAE imported USD17 billion worth of textiles and clothing products from the world during 2015.
