CMAI Unveils Pre-Launch of New Apparel Training in Bhiwandi

CMAI (The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India) successfully pre-launched its Apparel Training Centre (ATC) at the Magus Fashion City, Bhiwandi on 7th October 2025 with support from Magus Fashion City. The event witnessed participation from over 50 garment manufacturers and industry representatives, marking a significant step towards strengthening skill development in India’s garment sector.

From CMAI, Naveen Sainani (Hon. General Secretary) and Anand Golecha (Chairman, ATC Sub- Committee) are spearheading this strategic initiative to build an industry-ready workforce to enhance manufacturing, productivity and empowering garment sector workers through targeted training to meet the industry’s requirements of having a future ready workforce.

Since 2008, CMAI has been actively engaged in apparel training, having trained over 1,600 women sewing operators in Baramati Hi-Tech Textile Park, enabling employment opportunities across various factories. Under the Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) — Component II of the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, CMAI was appointed as an Implementing Agency to train 35,000 trainees during the 12th Five Year Plan (up to March 31, 2017). CMAI exceeded this target by training 37,478 trainees, assessing 35,475, and successfully placing 28,748 in garment factories nationwide by the end of the period.

From April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018, CMAI continued its momentum by training 6,167 additional trainees, assessing 5,972, and placing 4,742 individuals. In total, CMAI has trained 43,645 trainees, assessed 41,447, and placed 33,490 in relevant employment under the ISDS, reinforcing its commitment to skill development.

At the pre-launch, Naveen Sainani stated “CMAI Apparel Training Centre at Magus Fashion City, Bhiwandi will serve as a strategic hub for upskilling local garment workers, promoting productivity, and developing a skilled workforce prepared to meet global industry standards.”

CMAI has planned to extensively operate this Training Centre with collaborative industry efforts in order to empower and uplift the garment manufacturing community.
