Archroma, a global pioneer in specialty chemicals, will unveil its latest innovations in denim dyeing and processing at two major events: Denim Première Vision in Milan (May 21–22) and Denimsandjeans in Vietnam (June 25–26). With a strong emphasis on sustainability, the company aims to redefine how denim is created and experienced.
While denim continues to be a fashion staple across markets, its conventional production methods have long raised concerns due to heavy water, energy, and chemical usage. Archroma is responding with eco-conscious alternatives that retain denim’s classic appeal while lowering its environmental toll.
“At Archroma, we’re transforming denim with solutions rooted in decades of research,” said Dhirendra Gautam, VP Global Marketing and Strategy. “From iconic indigo tones to cutting-edge finishes, our innovations help denim lovers stay stylish without compromising the planet.”
A centerpiece of Archroma’s showcase is DENIM HALO, a pioneering pre-treatment and dyeing system designed to help mills create in-demand distressed effects while drastically reducing ecological impact. This process integrates DIRSOL® RD p, a specialized yarn treatment, with Archroma’s range of indigo, sulfur, or biosynthetic dyes. The result is denim that is laser-compatible, with vivid contrast in black and indigo shades—all without altering existing dyeing setups. Benefits include lower yarn shrinkage, improved tensile strength, and savings in water and energy. The system also avoids potassium permanganate and minimizes caustic soda use in sulfur dyeing.
Archroma is set to debut a new capsule collection highlighting Black Denim. Produced using DENIM HALO and DIRESUL® EVOLUTION BLACK, the garments feature high-end fabric from Kipas Denim and are finished using Jeanologia’s sustainable washing technology. The collection blends modern aesthetics with responsible manufacturing.
Archroma’s advanced dyeing technology products also include DIRESUL® EVOLUTION BLACK- a low-impact sulfur black dye, requiring 57% fewer resources during synthesis compared to standard options; DENISOL® PURE INDIGO 30 LIQ- an aniline-free, pre-reduced indigo dye that delivers authentic color with reduced environmental risk; and EarthColors®- dyes made from agricultural and food waste, promoting circularity and conserving water resources.
Archroma’s innovations represent a bold step toward sustainable denim without compromising performance or style.
