India’s second biggest e-commerce category, ‘Amazon India’ has plans to further exploit the segment and become the biggest Indian fashion retailer. Fashion is also the second biggest selling category on the Amazon India website, growing by a steady 100 per cent year on year, since the launch of the category in September 2013.
“We have a goal to be the single largest destination for fashion in India and are rapidly approaching that goal,” Arun Sirdeshmukh, head of Amazon Fashion India said.
In the US, according to Sirdeshmukh, fashion is a multi-billion dollar business for the world’s biggest online retailer and will be bigger than apparel retailer Macy’s in this year.
The fashion segment of Amazon India alone has two million SKU’s of the total 86 million products available on its ecommerce website, offering over 15,000 national and international fashion brands.
