APTMA, German Ministry Sign Textile Industry Deal

APTMA, German Ministry Sign Textile Industry Deal

Business leaders from Germany and Pakistan signed a Declaration of Intent yesterday to create a sustainable textile industry across the entire value chain.

Acting chairman of All-Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA), Punjab Chapter Syed Ali Ahsan and Ulrike Reviere from German ministry for economic cooperation signed the document on behalf of their respective organizations, media reports said.

A website www.spc.org.pk was also launched to create awareness on Sustainable Production Centre.

Speaking on the occasion, Stefan Oswald, head of Afghanistan/Pakistan in the German ministry for economic cooperation, said German ministry would continue to support the textile industry, which was the backbone of Pakistan’s economy.

Oswald, also underlined the need for the textile industry to consider the option of using solar energy for heating water in textile processing industry.
