Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) president, A Shakthivel has appealed to the union finance minister, Arun Jaitley to include some more specialty fabrics under custom duty free status for the growth of readymade garments.

“As the potential to increase our readymade garment exports lies on export of synthetic garments which has market throughout the year globally, the additional inclusion of more specialty fabrics will be helpful to enhance our growth and competitiveness,” he said.

“We shall, therefore, request the minister to kindly include those fabrics also in that status for the growth of readymade garments and employment,” Shakthivel added.

He also thanked the textile minister, Santosh Kumar Gangwar for issuing the guidelines of the Amended Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (ATUFS) to be followed during its implementation period from 13.01.2016 to 31.03.2022.
