Net sales at Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd (ABFRL) for the three months to December 31, 2015 grew three-fold over the same quarter of prior fiscal.

In a BSE filing, the company said its net sales rose to Rs 1,616.93 crore in the third quarter of fiscal 2016 compared to Rs 441.14 crore in the fiscal ago period.

The fashion marketer recorded a net profit of Rs 7.43 crore for the reporting quarter as against a net loss of Rs 42.78 crore in the comparable quarter of the previous fiscal.

Through an all share deal, Aditya Birla Group had announced merger of all its apparel businesses into one legal entity, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd in May last year.

The apparel businesses of Aditya Birla Nuvo and of Madura Garments Lifestyle were demerged into listed firm Pantaloons Fashion & Retail Ltd (PFRL).

This initiative made Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, the largest pure play fashion company in India with a retail network of 1,869 exclusive stores.
